Deer Hollow Art Park
A park that grows with us
A 10-acre permanent collection of large-scale sculpture, site-specific installations, and rotating exhibits by artists of local, national, and international stature. A place where serious art meets open sky, and a home for music, dance, youth education, and other living art forms.
Every gift goes directly toward acquiring, fabricating, and installing new works.

More than 150 handcrafted blue birds, inspired by murmurations, now fill the trees of Deer Hollow’s lower clearing. Free and open to all through January 2027.

About the exhibit
Inspired by the collective movement of bird murmurations, more than 150 handcrafted blue birds perch and take flight in the trees of Deer Hollow’s lower clearing. Each is made from handmade Nepalese Lokta paper and resin-coated against the weather, and some carry twigs, seed pods, and pine cones. On view through January 2027.
About the artist
Dorothy O’Connor blends photography, installation, and public art. A Hambidge Fellow and former artist-in-residence at Cheekwood, her work is held in the permanent collections of MOCA GA and Cheekwood.
The First Installation
Serenity for Shango
Curtis Patterson · 2022 · Stainless steel · 27 ft × 9 ft
Standing in the woods at Serenbe's Atlanta Newnan Road entrance, this monumental sculpture draws on West African traditions: Shango, the Yoruba deity of power and energy; the Nimba mask of the Baga people of Guinea; and Ashanti stools from Ghana, symbols of royalty and ancestral presence.
Commissioned through the Black Art Project at Serenbe, it anchors Deer Hollow's identity and sets the standard for every piece that follows.
